Pack your sunblock. Get your insect repellent. Remember to bring your toothbrush. And don't forget to tell your mama that you love her! This April we’re taking a trip to Camp Crystal Lake! No other film screams’ summer than this 1980 slasher flick. The first time I was introduced to this film, I was in the eighth grade. I was just thirteen years old at the time and I had an insane crush on Kevin Bacon. It was a problem. And by problem--I mean that his face was plastered all over my binder. I became the girl in school who was in love with Kevin Bacon--that’s not a lie--that’s a fucking fact.
Moving away from my Footloose obsession, I decided to watch Friday the 13th. Since my mother was against movies that portrayed violence, I was prohibited from watching slashers. Regardless of my mothers' warning, I ended up watching it anyway. And that made the film even more entertaining because it was 'off limits'. I almost felt like Kevin in Home Alone;
I remember yelling at my TV screen telling the counselors to leave camp before they all met their tragic end. The way the camera embodied the killer during that time fascinated me--I felt as if I was looking through their eyes as they butchered their way through each victim. And even after Kevin Bacon met his demise, I kept watching it. I was no longer here for the Bacon. I actually fell in love with the construct of this slasher film.
This April, we will be releasing Friday the 13th merchandise including--Camp Crystal Lake Paddle Boards, A New Slasher Mask, and Camp Crystal Lake Shelves. You’re probably wondering when these will be available online for purchase. (I know I would be.)
The Camp Crystal Lake Paddles will only be available at Monsterpalooza (April 13th-April 15) so be sure to come out and stop by our booth! These paddles are a must have especially if you’re a huge fan of this movie plus, wouldn't it be bitchin to show Kane Hodder? Think of the photo opportunity!
Ryan’s exclusive Slasher Mask will be available for purchase online, but there won’t be an exact quantity with the season. Due to a high demand, these are guaranteed to sell out, so be sure to purchase yours the second they go live!
For those (like myself) who have an extensive horror collection at home, the Camp Crystal Lake Shelves are a fantastic addition. Each one is equipped with a little drawer--perfect for storing a tiny weapon or--if you're a normal person--keys. These will be available online, but there’s a small catch--only six of these will be available for purchase. So in other words--if you want it--don’t delay. Treat yourself and be sure to grab it the second it goes live on the website.
The Slasher Mask and the Crystal Lake Shelves will be available online in April on--you guessed it--Friday the 13th.
The Camp Crystal Lake Paddles will be exclusive to Monsterpalooza (April 13th-15th)--so be sure to stop by our booth, say hi and buy a kick-ass paddle...
