Tip's, Trick's and Treats--Your Guide to Midsummer Scream!

Tip's, Trick's and Treats--Your Guide to Midsummer Scream!

If you're anything like me, you hate summer.  When July hits, summer has officially set in.  This is the month when people blow off fireworks nonstop.  It's a sweaty season that makes sleeping unbearable.  And not to mention--its' pretty unfair that my whole body feels sweaty before 8:00 am.

But there is one thing that I look forward to this time of year more than anything else.  The anticipation is mounting and the excitement is unreal...

Midsummer Scream returns to the Long Beach Convention Center July 28th and 29th!  This convention is packed with panels, vendors, celebrity photo ops, miniature haunts, a screaming room, cosplay and more!  Its a one stop shop for all ghosts and ghouls to celebrate all things Halloween!

Last year was my first time attending Midsummer, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the turn out.  I just couldn't think of ONE wrong thing about this convention!  And that's hard for me to say because ya girl LIVES in the negative. Talented Vendors, Engaging Panels, Spooktacular Presentations, Fangtastic Miniature Haunts and More.  Gather round spooky kids, this is the event you won't want to miss this year!

I am VERY excited to return for both days!  And there is a lot to look forward to next weekend at Midsummer Scream.  If you're a newcomer, I got you covered.  In this post, I'm going to help you make the most out of your weekend!

Are you settled in? Did you grab a fresh cup of coffee?  Good.  Let's do this.

There's this saying that if you fail to prepare, you're preparing to fail--and that certainly applies here.  Last year, Midsummer Scream was extremely packed.  The parking garage had filled up and the there were still people trying to get tickets.  The event was a huge success and this year will be no exception.  Expect this event to be jam packed with people--buy your ticket in advance.  Don't waste valuable time that can be spent inside because you didn't buy your ticket ahead of time.  Do yourself a favor, buy your ticket online so you're ready next week--and you can do so, here.

Parking is available at the Long Beach Convention Center.  Last year, they accepted both cash and card, but the mobile machines they had to process credit cards was taking forever which caused a huge build up of cars.  Do yourself a favor--stop by the bank, get some cash and don't be that one asshole that holds up the line.  Parking is $15.

I think the best part of this convention is the panels.  And there is a fangtastic line-up this year.  Here are just some of the panels that will be at the event next weekend.  Feast your eyes over the convention layout so you can 'map' out your day.  See what I did there? I know. I know. I'll go home...

The biggest tip that I can offer when it comes to a successful weekend at Midsummer is to --STUDY the MAP This is your guide.  This little guy is your FRIEND.  Familiarize yourself with the space and you'll be all set!  There's nothing wrong with being organized when it comes to this event.  You'll want to know the layout.  You'll need to know where to go when the time comes to go to a panel.  Below is the schedule of just SOME of the Panels that will be going on next weekend!

This is going to be one jam packed weekend!  Which panel will you be attending?
I'll be going to several panels on both days, but here's a hint on which one I'll be at...

((5 million points to Slytherin if you figure out which panel I'll be at....))

The Hall of Shadows

Last year, one of my favorite parts about Midsummer was the Hall of Shadows!  I love haunted houses and mazes.  Haunt Season is my favorite season of them all.  (That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who's been reading my posts.)  Here are just some of the haunts that will be in the Hall of Shadows.  If you do not have a Gold Bat Pass, you will need to go to the Hall of Shadows FIRST so you can go through each haunt quickly before the swarms of people flood the space.  But if you do have a Gold Bat Pass, you get front of the line access!

This year, the Hall of Shadows is going to provide some immersive experiences, monsters, entertainment, the Decayed Brigade slider team, and more. I've listed some of the attractions that will be housed inside the Hall of Shadows that I'm really excited to experience...

Black Bayou Terror Truck: HallowEVE Designs:

They will also be showcasing their newest Terror Truck, the Black Bayou for guests throughout the weekend. Black Bayou is an immersive haunted swamp attraction housed inside a 32′ trailer.

Trick R Treat: Fan Tribute-- Murder House Productions

Encounter werewolves, zombies, vampires, and Sam, the keeper of Halloween, as you wind your way through the five tales of terror in this thrilling immersive walk-through

Annelise: The Experience--Twisted Minds Production

Annelise: The Experience is an immersive mini haunted attraction that will take guests through the true story of Annelise Michel, a young girl who was possessed at the age of 16. You will embark on a research tour of the house and get a first-person perspective of the possession and other demonic events. Guided by two ghost hunters, you will navigate dark hallways and rooms, not knowing what sinister entity is waiting around the corner

 The Hyde Street Massacre

The Hyde Street Massacre is what your worst nightmares are made of. Go ahead and take a step through the doors of this nightmare-inducing fright house. The only question is, will you survive the massacre?

---***---

Which one of these will you be wandering through?

Full disclosure--I'm terrified to go through the Annelise attraction.  For those of you who do NOT know of the Annelise Michel story, you can watch the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose which is loosely based on the story of Annelise.  And it is some next level terror.  Pure Nightmare Fuel...

Whenever I go to an event, I try to glam up to the best of my ability--why? PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES.  I'm not trying to look like shit when I head to an event.    Midsummer has really brought some amazing special guests this year.  And I'm absolutely thrilled!  Guests such as Bill Mosely, Thora Birch, Kimberly Brown, and more.  Like any other convention with special guests, there will be a fee to take a photograph and or receive an autograph.  Bring extra cash!

Here's a little trick!  Last year, MSS gave guests the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt!  This activity had you engage in a Scavenger Hunt through the Hall of Shadows.  If you answered all the questions correctly, you could earn a prize!  I'm unsure if they'll be offering the same activity, but keep your eyes peeled!  If you're interested in this Scavenger Hunt, you can ask any MSS team member for more information.  So far, I haven't heard if they'll be doing it this year, but hey, you never know!

What's the perfect way to end the first day of this amazing event?

The Midsummer Scream After Dark:

Summer Halloween Party!

The first day of Midsummer runs from 11:00 am to 7 pm.  The party is from 8:00 pm to 11:59 pm.  Perfect for anyone who needs an hour to go change into their costume real quick. There will be drinks, dancing, games, a DJ, photo ops, a virgin sacrifice (just kidding) and more!  The best part about this party is the theme which is Frankenstein's 200th Birthday.  Be sure to come and celebrate the monster we all know and love! (Keep in mind---This event is for 18 and over).

I'm not joking when I say that this evening is going to be PACKED with spooktacular things to do.  It almost makes me wonder if this night will be long enough? As a treat, I've put together a little schedule to help navigate your evening...

**Schedule Subject to Change*

8:15pm to 9:00pm--

Are you ready to put your knowledge to the test? Dead Right Horror Trivia will be hosting a game show style horror trivia!  Don't miss out on LA's most popular horror trivia event!

8:15pm-10:15pm--

Be sure to join Tom Holland during a special screening of Child's Play as they provide commentary throughout the film.  Don't miss out on this special 30th anniversary of the film.

10:30 pm-11:00 pm--

If you have a costume you're planning to wear, listen up to these details!  Upon arrival, be sure to get your picture taken at the designated entry photo booth.  The finalists will be displayed on the big screen at 11:00 pm and will be invited to come up to the stage.  Guests will be able to cheer for their favorites. But ultimately, the costume jury will decide the winner of the $500 prize for best costume!

**If you have the Gold Bat Pass--the After Dark Party is included with your admission.**

**If you want to buy your After Dark Party ticket right now (because you know better) you can do so right--hereeeeee.**

Next weekend is going to be one for the books.  Be sure to take a look at all the fantastic vendors!  Take a stroll through the Hall of Shadows. Check out the panels.  Dance your little ass off at the After Dark: Summer Halloween Party on Saturday night.  And last but not least--visit our booth and say hello!

We will be at Booth #718!

There may be some convention exclusive items available at our table!  Be sure to stop by, say hello and snag something that isn't available online.

So, what are you most excited about?

I hope this little guide will help you have a SPOOKTACULAR weekend!

Here's the final recap.  Be sure to buy your tickets.  Bring cash.  Arrive early.  Wear comfortable shoes.  And look sexy for photos.
